Annual Meeting

Multiple discussion groups in action at last year's Annual Meeting in Portland.

“Get Involved” at 2008 Annual Meeting, February 16

“Getting Involved” is the theme of this year’s Northwest Dharma Association Annual Meeting which will take place in Seattle on Saturday, February 16.

The Annual Meeting provides an opportunity each year for Buddhists from various traditions and regions in the Northwest to meet old friends and make new connections.

The 2008 meeting will present the results of the “Alternative and Rural Sangha Project,” an endeavor that originated in one of the discussion groups at last year’s Annual Meeting in Portland. Project volunteers have created a “sangha starter kit” and support system for people practicing in (typically teacher-less) small, alternative, or rural sanghas. Coordinating a teacher “speakers bureau” will be part of the next phase of the project.

In afternoon groups, participants will have a chance to “get involved” with a variety of action opportunities, including:
  • Prison Dharma
  • Buddhist Festival/Change Your Mind Day Planning
  • Teacher forum and speakers bureau
  • Volunteer opportunities with Northwest Dharma Association
  • Other “engaged” efforts as determined by participants

The 2008 Annual Meeting will take place in Seattle at Prospect Congregational Church, 1919 E. Prospect Street (off 19th Ave. E. on Capitol Hill) from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Registration and hospitality begin at 9:30 a.m. There is no fee to attend and the event is open to all. Please RSVP at info@nwdharma.org.

PLEASE NOTE: The date of the Annual Meeting was published incorrectly in the previous issue of the News. The meeting is February 16 (not February 2.) We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience arising from this mistake.
