NWDA Hires Outreach Coordinator

The NWDA Board has engaged the services of former board member Jeff Kerr to serve as Outreach Coordinator for the Association. Jeff is a member of the Portland Insight Meditation Center and has also been active at the Portland Shambhala Center and Mt. Adams Zen Temple.

Jeff's job is to work closely with the Board of Directors to devise and implement an outreach plan. We'd like to increase the number of individual and group members and make sure that the Northwest Dharma Association's work is truly serving the Buddhist communities in the Northwest.

One goal is to expand our membership base into British Columbia so that we can truly represent the Pacific Northwest. Another is to make sure our members and board represent the diversity of Buddhists in the Northwest and that Asian Buddhist communities have the opportunity to participate in the work our organization does.

The next several years will be a time of growth and opportunity. There are many people who can benefit from cultivating friendships with Buddhists from other sanghas, and there are issues such as prison dharma and youth and families that are of common concern to many different sanghas. Those who are currently active in NWDA know the organization remains relevant and we are excited about inviting and engaging new friends in our organization.
