First Anniversary of the Online News

This issue of the Northwest Dharma News marks a full year of its production as an online publication.

The “new” News is beautiful and timely. It’s easier and less expensive to produce, is environmentally appropriate, and allows us to publish abundant photos in full color.

Less obvious but certainly of equal significance is another innovation:

A year ago we began distributing the Northwest Dharma News for free--to anyone, anywhere, who wished to receive it, including the nearly 3,000 people who visit the Northwest Dharma website monthly.

Distributing the News on a dana basis is a risky business for us considering our perennially delicate finances. Nevertheless we trust that with your support we’ll be able to continue this policy.

While the vast majority of comments about the online News have been laudatory, we know that some NWDA stalwarts miss the old print version. We are reminded that though change is an inevitability, it’s not always easy.

It has always been our hope, since the decision to go online, that we’ll be able to create a new print publication some time in the future. With your support, this, too, will be possible.

We offer our thanks to the many people whose combined efforts made possible the past six—now seven—issues of the Northwest Dharma News: writers, editors, photographers, technical support staff, and our superb web designer, Stephen Schildbach.

Special thanks go to those who have shared information and insight about so many topics, and to our readers. Your input is not only always welcome, it’s always necessary!
